United States based retail cooperation operating a chain of hypermarkets, discount department stores and grocery stores Walmart Inc. (WMT) has slowly started allowing its customers to purchase buy bitcoin at its United States stores.
The customers can buy the crypto through Coinstar machines placed inside the retailer’s cavernous big box stores. When reached to comment over the development, the company’s communications director Molly Blakeman said they currently have 200 Bitcoin Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) inside its stores across the U.S.
“Coinstar, in partnership with Coinme, has launched a pilot that allows its customers to use cash to purchase bitcoin. There are 200 Coinstar kiosks located inside Walmart stores across the United States that are part of this pilot,” said Blakeman.
Coinstar is a company known for operating coin-cashing machines it enables clients to exchange coins for paper bills or gift cards. The company is working with Coinme, a crypto wallet and payment company to enable clients purchase bitcoin in the ATMs.
